Ms. Rikanovic has more than 25 years of professional experience with international organizations in the Western Balkans, Central Asia and Caucasus, including UN organizations, World Bank and EU initiatives, where she has been leading diverse, complex and multi-sector programmes. Ms. Rikanovic focused on the Women Economic Empowerment portfolio where her engagement in the area of women’s labour rights and gender-based discrimination was featured as the model programme of the economic empowerment of women inclusive of CSOs and local communities.
Milana developed gender responsive governance portfolio in UN Women, where she initiated the programme at the local level and started the process of gender mainstreaming of the EU assistance and accession process and sectoral strategies and budgets. She led joint UN Women and UN Global Compact initiative on the Women’s Empowerment Principles with the goal of including private sector in empowerment of women at workplace, at the markets and in the communities which joined more than 120 companies in Serbia.
