Former Global Head of Employer Brand, VODAFONE

Catalina Schveninger FCIPD, People Strategy Consultant is former Chief People and Social Impact Officer at DataCamp, the educational technology company with the mission to democratize data skills for everyone.

Prior to DataCamp, she was the CPO of FutureLearn and the Chief Learning Officer & Global Head of Recruitment and Employer Brand of Vodafone, a FTSE 20 global telecom where she led the agile transformation and upskilling/reskilling agenda for over 100,000 employees in 25 countries, winning multiple awards for innovation in recruitment.

She began her international HR career in 2002 as a member of the Human Resources Leadership Program at GE and held different roles, including the HR Director of GE’s Security EMEA division.

Catalina is an engaging and results-oriented leader with a track record in driving business results by deploying a coherent people strategy. Whilst in her role at Vodafone, Catalina helped markets be at their best by creating global standards for resourcing and employer branding.

In the fight to attract and retain talent in existing and emerging markets, a focus on employer brand is a key element. It’s about projecting the brand so that it appeals to a wide and diverse range of potential applicants, those with the commitment and aspiration that will fit well with the culture and objectives of their employer.

With a keen interest in technology, Catalina drove and executed the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation across the HR function within Vodafone. AI is used to improve HR processes and the employee experience.

Her work on eliminating bias, introduction of AI based pre-screening and launching the world’s first resourcing and development program for women returning to the workforce was featured multiple times in the Financial Times and The Times.

At the Balkan Business Forum 2023, Catalina will present the useful and inspiring innovations and tools for Employer Branding that it has implemented at VODAFONE. How she successfully put social media and digital communication on the agenda of senior leaders at VODAFONE and led to the adoption of a strategy for social media, digital recruitment and candidate assessment, and the digital experience of employee managers in all markets in less than a year. It’s important to ensure that the senior team is active in building awareness of the organization’s vision and values with a clear understanding of the importance of people, leadership, talent management, and reward.

You will also have the opportunity to hear about VODAFONE’s Future Jobs Finder tool, which helps young people identify the skills they need for the jobs of the future and shows them how they can become skilled in those areas.

After a career building and running global HR teams in some of the biggest and now fastest growing companies on the planet, she knows what she’s talking about.

Catalina is passionate about access to education and learning. In her free time she volunteers as a School Governor and as a mentor to underprivileged high school students and to female entrepreneurs in emerging markets. She has lived and worked in six countries.
